I can't believe it is April already!! I love April!! Today is the best day ever though!! Today I wanted to just post because of the great significance of this date. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized officially on this date! So, that is reason to celebrate right!! But also we believe that April 6th is Jesus Christ's birth date. We really do -- so we just love this time of year -- Easter and Spring - celebrating his Birth, Life and Resurrection!! I am so thankful for all He has done for me! I love Him and hope to serve Him all my days!!! I am grateful for His great atoning sacrifice for all of us, His great love and example!
Saturday and Sunday we had General Conference AGAIN! Getting to hear General Conference is such a blessing to me! I am eager to hear what they have to share with us. This time - because of the death of Joseph B. Wirthlin, we sustained a new apostle - Elder Neil L. Andersen. I was excited to hear about this new calling for him. This was my sister Donna's mission president in Bordeaux, France! Anyway, he seems to be a really humble and awesome guy! I am excited to hear more from him in the coming years!
I am excited to get the conference talks in the Ensign next month. The past 6 months I have been studying the Conference talks from October. I would start each week out with a talk. Every Monday - I read one of the talks, studied it and then tried to apply the teachings all week. I have really gained a love and respect for the leaders of the Church. I know they are lead by God. They have studied and pondered on their topics and I know the Lord helped them and inspired them on what to say and how to say it! They are so great at speaking the truth, encouraging, and inspiring without berating and without condescending words - it really feels like love - the pure love of Christ. They teach the truths of eternity and don't excuse the doctrine -it is what the Lord established -we have a work to do, we can do more and do better - but there is also an underlying tone of love, concern and support to all of us! I just wish I could be as pure as they are! It has really helped me to feel the Spirit more, love my family more and by studying their talks I have definitely gained a stronger testimony! These are tough times for many people around the world - this is a world wide church - their message is for all the world! It is amazing to think of it that way! It reaches those who are down trodden and suffering and it touches those who are high and mighty and proud. I am thankful for all that the Lord has blessed me with - it is so great to be surrounded by family and friends. I only hope to live as the Savior would have me live - that I may more fully serve Him is my greatest desire!
